all you have to do is ask

Went to ask of Alice

And hear the things she said.

Whispering of cabbages

And soddered cups to fill my head.

In, amongst, amidst the kin,

she offered to spill of grins,

fellow monks that saturate

the silence to begin.

“Advancement,” she said,

“ can be discussed over tea.”

Alas, I could not hear her

for I was too busy singing,

“… and if you go chasing rabbits,

and you know you’re going to fall…”

This was an iconic moment for me. I grew up on the street where this love of a statue exists. Oh boy, do I wish this was there when I was an artsy teenager.

When driving by, I saw the steel top of what I presumed to be a top hat. Commence reversal of car, parking, walking into park with astonishment. This is legit the most elaborate sculpture I’ve seen candidly. What a muchísmo success. As I was gazing (gawking) at all the subtle details, I thought to myself, ‘It would be wonderful if there were someone here to take my photograph.” Moments later, a lady walks by on the path. We take turns taking each other’s photos with the grand Alice in Wonderland statue. We get to talking and then walk around the rest of the park’s path together.

There happens to be a slide in the park. We decide to slide down it. As one does, when they meet someone named Crystal while stumbling upon an Alice in Wonderland statue on Mulberry Lane, the lane where they grew up.

Solid friends. A song will be written about this.

Alice in Wonderland Statue by Bridgette Mongeon.

Ending line of poem inspired by Jefferson Airplane.
